 Experiencing a second head injury can indeed pose more serious risk. Sustaining a concussion means an individual's brain has been jolted or shaken, resulting in disruptions of normal brain function. Secondary concussions can be more serious due to a phenomenon called “ second impact syndrome.”

 

 Second-impact syndrome occurs when sustains a second concussion while the first concussion symptoms have not been fully resolved. With the potential of leading to rapid and severe swelling of the brain, which can be life threatening. Multiple concussions have cumulative effects on brain health.
